The site museum

Museum of the Caves of Sare

The site museum addresses several topics. You will first discover the various stages of Human evolution from Prehistory to the present day thanks to information panels and the exposition of relics dating from numerous periods.

You will then get a chance to better know JM de Barandiaran, eminent Basque prehistorian and ethnologist to whom the visit is dedicated, before letting children learn how to recognize the different bat species.

The megalithic park

Megalithic park of the Caves of Sare

This open-air area, built by Dr BLOT, is a reconstruction of different monuments erected by Humans during the period called Protohistory (2800 BC until metal age).

With the help of information panels in 4 languages, you will observe these monuments as well as some of the rituals of that period such as burial and cremation.
